Job Summary:

We are seeking talented and passionate individuals for our roster of researchers in Uganda, Kenya, Cambodia, and Indonesia. These roles will involve remote work but require frequent local engagement to ensure grounded, context-specific research. Successful candidates will be added to a two-year roster for future assignments as needed. 

Please note that we are developing a pre-approved roster of researchers to bring on board when needed. You may be found suitable during this recruitment round but not offered a contract for a few months. This roster will remain current for two years and we will use it to bring researchers on board when a position becomes available.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  •  Conduct qualitative and quantitative research in areas such as gender equality, youth empowerment, climate change adaptation, and inclusive social policies.
  • Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and partners to ensure context-specific insights and solutions.
  • Develop and adapt research methodologies tailored to project needs.
  • Analyze data, draft reports, and contribute to publications and presentations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Participate in capacity-building initiatives, including workshops and training sessions
Qualifications & Skills:
 
Senior Associate Researchers:
  •  Master’s degree or PhD in social sciences, development studies, public policy, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in conducting research and managing projects
  • Strong expertise in leading qualitative and quantitative studies.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and coordinate complex project
Associate Researchers:
  • Master’s degree  in social sciences, development studies, public policy, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in research, particularly in development sectors.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Assistant Researchers:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, development studies, or related fields.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in research or data collection.
  • Basic knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  •  Enthusiasm for learning and supporting research activities
Key Competencies: 
  • Demonstrated experience in gender-sensitive and inclusive research methodologies.
  • Familiarity with the cultural and social dynamics of Uganda, Kenya, Cambodia, or Indonesia.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (proficiency in local languages is a plus).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in remote teams.

Work conditions: 
  • Work Location:Remote (although the job roles are remote we are seeking candidates from Uganda, Kenya, Cambodia, Indonesia region). Successful candidates need a computer/ laptop with a high-speed internet connection.
  • Employment Type: This is a 12-month contractual full-time position with a high probability of getting extended based on performance and finances.
  • Work hours: Flexible working arrangements apply, with some work falling outside core business hours to accommodate time zone differences.
