Abiyot Negera (he/him) 

Inclusive Childhoods Senior Researcher

 I am passionate about diversity and inclusion. Diversity provides potential access to alternative ways of being/knowing, inclusion actualizes it!

 Abiyot Negera is a senior researcher at Includovate. He has participated in many successful social assessment studies on topics ranging from social protection schemes through women empowerment to migration. Accordingly, he has participated in a country wide (i.e., Ethiopia) social assessment for Productive Safety Net Program (PSNP), which was financed and coordinated by the World Bank. 

 Similarly, he has participated in the evaluation of Single Parent and Foster Care social protection schemes that Includovate and Development Pathways Conducted for the Maldives. He participated in a qualitative research for the UN Joint Program on “Accelerating the Economic Empowerment of Rural Women” coordinated by IWMI as data gatherer and report writer.Additionally, he participated in a country wide socio-economic assessment on the project “Stemming Irregular Migration in Northern and Central Ethiopia (SINCE),” financed by ILO via Forum for Social Studies (FSS) as one of the two main researchers for Oromia region. 

 Abiyot has participated in Ethiopian Women Policy Review that Includovate did with CARE Ethiopia as researcher and report writer. Abiyot has a master of Indigenous Studies from the University of Tromso, Norway. He obtained a bachelor of education in history from Dilla College of Teacher Education and Health Sciences, with a major in history and minor in geography. He is fluent in written and spoken Afan Oromo (mother tongue), Amharic and English.
