Siobhan Foran (she/her)

DEI Specialist (Humanitarian Action & International Development)

When we reject the single story, when we realise that there is never a single story about any place, we regain a kind of paradise.” –Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

A life of two careers…so far. Before a fateful trip to Burkina Faso in 2000/2001, Siobhán was a Chartered Surveyor, working in the commercial property sector in Dublin, Ireland and London, UK. After that big trip, Siobhán made the big switch to the humanitarian and development sector, including pursuing a Master’s Degree in Equality Studies at University College, Dublin.

Siobhán focuses on gender equality, women and girls’ empowerment, diversity inclusion, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, mitigation and response and the prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment programming, mechanisms and training in humanitarian and development operations.

She has worked in many countries across Africa and the Middle East, as well as in Geneva, Switzerland and New York, U.S.A. Siobhán has worked with the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross (the ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (the IFRC) and several NGOs, including the International Rescue Committee, Première Urgence Internationale, Médecins du Monde, Concern Worldwide, Norwegian Refugee Council, Trócaire and CARE International.

Siobhán strives to be a listener, facilitator, collaborator and servant leader who values and prioritises equality of voice and open and honest communication.

For fun and relaxation, Siobhán loves to read, listen to podcasts and music, spend time with friends and family, exercise or find wonder in cold-water swimming, year-round.
